FRP Stair Treads
EX-Series® FRP STAIR TREADS
The EX-Series® FRP Stair Tread collection is engineered to provide dependable, long-term performance across demanding industrial and commercial environments throughout the Middle East. Available in both open mesh and solid surface configurations, the range includes multiple surface profiles, colour selections, and leading-edge nosing options to suit diverse project requirements. Every GratEX® and MoultrEX® premium and standard stair tread is manufactured with an integrated solid leading-edge nosing as a single moulded component, delivering enhanced structural strength, improved durability, and reliable performance in areas exposed to continuous pedestrian traffic. Stair treads featuring abrasive leading-edge nosings are produced to comply with internationally recognised industrial safety standards.
Conventional stair systems often rely on steel stringer brackets that require regular protective coatings to minimise corrosion, particularly in harsh coastal, marine, petrochemical, and industrial environments common across Bahrain, Qatar, and the UAE. In many installations, mounting holes are drilled after protective finishes have been applied, exposing untreated surfaces that can accelerate corrosion over time. Additionally, many traditional mounting brackets are manufactured from lighter gauge materials, which may reduce long-term structural performance under demanding operating conditions.
EX-Series® FRP Stair Tread Kits provide a durable, low-maintenance alternative for replacing ageing metallic stair systems while also serving as the preferred specification for new industrial developments. Designed for extended service life and reduced lifecycle costs, the stair treads are compatible with the complete range of EX-Series® resin systems and are supplied as standard with four M-Clips for secure installation. Depending on project requirements, stair treads can be delivered fully assembled for rapid installation or supplied in kit form for efficient on-site assembly. Pre-drilled stringer support brackets are also available to simplify installation and minimise project time.
GratEX® and MoultrEX® Stair Tread leading-edge nosings are typically manufactured in colours that provide a clear visual contrast with the primary tread surface, improving edge recognition and increasing pedestrian safety. This enhanced visibility supports safer movement across stairways in industrial facilities, processing plants, utilities, infrastructure projects, and commercial sites while contributing to safer workplace access systems.
For projects where elevated access safety is critical, Treadwell strongly recommends specifying contrasting leading-edge nosings when selecting GratEX® and MoultrEX® FRP Stair Treads. Enhanced edge visibility helps minimise slip, trip, and fall risks while improving overall workplace safety across industrial environments.
NOTE: A minimum bearing surface of 40mm is recommended on both sides of GratEX® and MoultrEX® Stair Treads to ensure correct installation and structural performance. For many industrial applications, a tread depth greater than 225mm is recommended to achieve safe and comfortable stair access while complying with relevant project specifications and applicable regional safety requirements.
GratEX® FRP landings form an important part of Treadwell’s complete access systems portfolio and are custom manufactured to suit individual project requirements throughout the Middle East. Designed to improve visibility while reducing wear in high-traffic areas, these landings combine outstanding slip resistance, exceptional corrosion resistance, and long-term durability. Together with GratEX® Stair Treads, they deliver a dependable, low-maintenance solution that offers excellent long-term value for industrial facilities, infrastructure projects, oil and gas operations, marine environments, utilities, and processing plants across Bahrain, Qatar, and the UAE.
